The warmth of the interior light contrasts with the cold, blue light through the window, communicating visually the sense of exposure associated with exterior space and the security of an indoor space. The objects littered around the room make the shot more visually interesting, and also document fairly well the life of the study abroad student. The sharp shadows on the wall make this photo distinctly photographic, and so therefore partake of photographic authenticity.
