Mini-Mall (10/38)

This is a photograph about globalization, how it homogenizes our experiences. At the same time, it's very blank, there's no obvious judgment on this issue. It's just presented as a documentary fact in the signage. The man in the bottom-center helps carry this impression by giving the viewer someone to identify with besides me, the camera operator, so that he'll actually think about being in a space like this, instead of just thinking about looking at one - the opposite of the effect of the foreground fences in the Les Halles pictures. The steely flourescent grain of the photo expresses the mood of the arcade quite well also.
