Not Even a Mouse (11/38)

There’s something very lonely about empty café tables, particularly in the busy middle evening period when this photo was taken. The idea of an arcade is that it showcases finery, that people are admitted to it - hence the gates, the suggestion of privacy. But without the people bustling through, there's really nothing there. That's what this is about. The one person walking away simply heightens the feeling of emptiness, as does the post card stand - who would want to send a post card from a place like this?
