Spycam - the View from My Room (25/38)
A large part of my experience of Paris was right through the window of my room, and I spent some time trying to capture the feeling of looking out through it, across at the park. One photo in these series does this specifically, but several others - made during a Segolene Royal rally that took place down the street - also problematize the meaning of this vantage point that we all possess in urban spaces, and the ability it gives us to look out on others. This is of course analagous to the capacity the camera gives us to frame and look out at the world; the distancing effect of the camera that Susan Sontag writes so much about.
